Add content previews to nav
Consider adding a preview for some of the links in your main nav, hinting at what content users can expect to see on that page.
How to use this idea
What is it?
A content preview is an image or description that gives users a clue as to what they will find on the following page. It could be a preview of some content, an illustration or even a photograph.
Your nav bar will be users first port of call when exploring your website. By adding content previews to the nav we can help users discover content they may have previously dismissed.
The more enticing the link the more likely it is for a user to follow it.
Why this works
Links with images or descriptions are more engaging and therefore likely to drive engagement across the site.
Things to consider
When implementing this it is important to make sure your nav is still accessible and responsive. Making sure you use compressed images and keeping text content to a minimum will make it easy to browse.
